Attached to Technology and Paying a Price Responce

I have mixed views on how I feel about this article. I strongly agree with Matt Richtel in the section of the article that discusses how our brains are being rewired because of our multitasking due to technology. I think that this is a good improvement to humans. Like the article mentioned, humans are meant to evolve. I think the ability to multitask has made the world more productive, therefore making it grow economically, socially and in many other areas. I think that technology makes people more intelligent in the long run. This statement would be compared to how one views intelligence though. Some people may view intelligence as being a master in a certain subject, where others may see it as being knowledgeable in many subjects. I think technology, such as the internet, and the ability to multitask makes the newer generation more aware of what is going on in the world around them.

Richtel explained how Mr. Campbell always had multiple windows open on his computer, containing email accounts, news links, twitter accounts, etc. I will admit it, as I read this article I had open my email, Facebook page, Twitter account and this blog page. I was able to get through the article, take small breaks to check my various pages, and still comprehend the article as a whole. I understand how Mr. Campbell feels a need to always be connected to the internet and know what is going on in the world. It is something that is becoming more normal to the newer generation. As the article explained, people get excitement from know what is going on, or what everyone is doing. I do believe that this may become a problem when people lose most of their physical interaction with other people due to their obsession with the online world, like Mr. Campbell and his sons. This obsession seems to be happening at younger ages as technology advances. I see this as being a bad because children are in a state of development and the overwhelming technology makes them lose their focus in their maturing of other developmental processes, such as physical social interaction. Technology is a very strong, powerful improvement to the world and has become something that humans can simply not do without.
